Saving energy – tips on how to make a difference

In the June edition of Global Citizenship Bulletin we reported on the European Commission’s Climate Change campaign, which shows how making small changes to our daily lives can help prevent greenhouse gas omissions and save money.

HP has taken this one step further and launched a new website called Energy Tips, providing a comprehensive guide on how to save energy in the workplace and at home. The tips cover smart purchasing decisions, conserving resources and completing the conservation cycle.

HP puts women in the spotlight 
The Women’s International Networking (W.I.N.) Global Leadership Forum is a prestigious, annual event that brings together senior executives and professionals to share knowledge, skills and expertise in promoting women’s professional career development. 

This year, HP was the main sponsor of the event, which took place in Rome in September. HP’s sponsorship and high profile presence confirms our strong commitment to developing women professionally and embedding diversity into every angle of our business approach.

Digital Publishing boosts higher education 
In 2005 HP Corporate Philanthropy joined forces with HP Labs to develop a pilot programme that would support colleges and universities by promoting innovations in teaching and learning. The programme, HP Digital Publishing, was designed to create an educational community through the provision of digital publishing grants.

Five universities in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region have just been awarded HP Digital Publishing grants, totalling more than US $280,000 (€223,500) in equipment and cash. Leading the programme are Lou Witkin, programme manager HP University Relations and Jim Vanides, programme manager HP Worldwide Higher Education Grants. We spoke to them both to find out.

Education in hospitals becomes a reality in Russia 
For many children receiving treatment for onco-hematological diseases, the ability to continue with their education falls by the wayside. It becomes impossible to learn from the hospital bed.

At the Research Institute of Oncology in Moscow, however, children have been given the opportunity to continue with their education thanks to essential IT equipment donated by HP Russia.
