HP employees have a long history of making social, intellectual and economic contributions to the communities where they work and live. For HP Germany our Employee Giving Programme has produced some very charitable benefits.

Operating under HP’s Global Citizenship umbrella, ‘HP vor Ort’ is a community initiative that supports employees who work with charitable organisations in their spare time.

In recognition of their voluntary work, the board members of HP Germany asked employees to nominate their charities for a special HP prize draw. The nominated charities were selected from a total of 340 entries and following the draw in September, 120 charities received HP equipment, including notebooks, projectors, desktop PCs or Photosmart bundles.

Making charitable work easier
The equipment will be used to support the nominated organisations in their daily business, in order to achieve better results, improve their service, provide internet access or simply make some of their day-to-day processes more effective.

A number of children’s organisations have received HP digital cameras and printers. One organisation, ‘Gewaltlos leben’, in Leipzig, supports children in Bosnia who are affected by the effects of the war. Having received an HP digital projector, the organisation is now able to show films about their projects to the public and make its work known to a greater audience.

Supporting individual involvement
In a country where the topic of voluntary work is becoming increasingly important, HP’s community initiative reinforces our support for individual involvement and engagement.

Uli Holdenried, managing director HP Germany, said: “Our society and communities thrive on volunteer involvement. Many local initiatives and services would not be able to function without the support of numerous volunteers.

“Many of our employees provide significant contributions to society and we are happy to support them every step of the way.”
