As part of our ongoing efforts to extend our social and environmental standards further throughout our supply chain, HP started discussions with the GoodElectronics Coalition, an international network of NGOs, to help improve social and environmental standards maintained by our second and third tier suppliers.

While we work with our direct suppliers to clear, contractually agreed social, environmental and corporate responsibility standards we have little or no direct access to second or third tier suppliers. Working with NGOs can help us make a positive impact further down our supply chain, benefiting from the direct access NGOs and other organisations have locally.

For example, a Hong Kong-based NGO recently helped us identify issues with working conditions at one of our second tier suppliers in China. As a result, HP management has been able to take direct action by involving our first tier supplier. A Third Party audit has been scheduled along with a follow up meeting in China with all parties, including the NGO. Find out more here.

As a company we take our responsibility for standards in our supply chain very seriously and we work directly with suppliers and through organisations and industry forums to maintain and ensure standards.
