Take-Back and recycling programmes: the many advantages
HP’s Take-Back and recycling events are proving more successful than ever. Last month, HP in Italy and the UK held Take-Back events which, combined, received more than 14 tonnes of unwanted or unusable electronic waste. HP’s Take-Back and recycling programmes are an effective way of ensuring that electronic waste is kept to a minimum, directly in line with the European Union’s WEEE Directive.
HP helps to develop supplier diversity guidelines in the EU The US magazine Diversity Inc released an overview of top ten companies last month, ranking them according to their supplier diversity policies and practices. HP was ranked fourth.
In view of this track record in supplier diversity in the US market, we take a look at the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, where HP is taking supplier diversity forward in EMEA as well, by being part of a small group of leading multinationals working to integrate supplier diversity into everyday business processes in the region.
HP sets high standards in data protection Scott Taylor was named Chief Privacy Officer last year, with responsibility for HP’s global data protection and privacy strategy and standards. Since the recent investigations into leaks of information from the Board of Directors, this role carries extended responsibilities ensuring that HP’s approach to privacy determines the way employee and customer data is handled throughout the organisation. HP provides funds to deliver specific business IT training for graduates and young unemployed Improving the chances of young people in underserved regions to find employment and equip them with the skills to set up their own business is one of the key elements of HP’s social investment strategy. This is why we are offering a new training programme as part of our economic development strategy.
On 3 May we announced our collaboration with social NGOs in 18 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa to run the “Graduate Entrepreneurship Training through IT” (GET-IT).GET-IT is a training programme specifically designed to improve business IT skills of young unemployed school leavers and graduates.
