HP helps address IT skills gap in Europe as founding partner of industry initiative
HP is one of the founding partners of an industry forum that aims to address the gap in IT skills of Europe’s workforce. Working with the EU Commission, the e-Skills Industry Leadership Board (ILB) is an umbrella body that will accommodate specific EU-wide initiatives supported by its members addressing issues like IT basic skills for the wider population, as well as developing and updating advanced IT skills needed to drive innovation and economic growth. |

HP Portugal social investment work focuses on partner collaboration
HP Portugal’s Philanthropy Team can look back on a successful and eventful year. Two Portuguese universities were awarded a Technology for Teaching grant this year and when HP helped to launch Junior Achievement Portugal, the Portuguese branch of Junior Achievement, the President of the Republic was in attendance.
We spoke to Carlos Janicas, managing director HP Portugal and lead for HP’s Technology Solutions Group in Portugal to learn more about HP Portugal’s social investment initiatives for which the team received an internal Excellence Award.

HP-sponsored teams secure 1st and 2nd place in World Solar Challenge
HP was the sponsor of the winner and the runner-up in this year’s Panasonic World Solar Challenge, an endurance race for solar-powered cars across the Australian continent.
The Dutch Nuon Solar team won the race with their solar car, the Nuna 4. The team members are students of Delft University of Technology. Previous teams from the university also won the Challenge in 2001, 2003 and 2005 with record-breaking speeds. A Belgian team from the University of Leuven took second place, racing in their solar car, the Umicar Infinity.

CSR MarketPlace jury awards HP, VW and Titan for joint sustainability supplier initiative
For the second year, HP was a sponsor of the CSR MarketPlace in Brussels on 29 November. More than 650 companies and organisations attended and around 90 showcased their CSR solutions at the event this year.
Awards were given to the best CSR solutions and collaborative CSR Laboratories. Winners were selected by public vote and a vote from a jury. HP was honoured jointly alongside Volkswagen and Titan for its role in the CSR Laboratory focused on “Sustainability in supplier relations”.
