Both countries place great importance on their national education initiatives as a key driver for their economic development. HP publishes guidelines for multinationals to help raise standards in supply chain
HP and the Danish Commerce and Companies Agency (DCCA) have published a report setting out guidelines for multinational companies on how to promote sustainability among their small and medium business suppliers. HP is the first IT company to help publish such a comprehensive blueprint that shows companies how to achieve the highest environmental and social standards throughout their global supply chains. HP will promote the findings and guidelines from the report to other multinationals as much as possible to encourage their implementation.

HP Egypt receives recognition from Egypt government
On 2 January, HP Egypt received an award from the Egyptian government in recognition of its support of the Egyptian Education Initiative.

Presented on behalf of Her Excellency, Mrs. Suzan Mubarak, Egypt’s First Lady, the award was given to HP to acknowledge the role it has played in supporting the Education Initiative in Egypt and its commitment for continued support of the initiative going forward.

HP and UNESCO sign strategic partnership agreement for education
In December, HP and UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) signed a strategic partnership agreement to strengthen their collaboration around existing education projects. Collaboration on so-called brain-drain initiatives will continue and as part of its ongoing work with UNESCO, HP has also provided support for UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere Programme (MAB). The latest project HP is helping to develop is the UNESCO recycling guide that explores best practices in managing electronic waste in developing economies.
