Welcome to the November/December edition of our Global Citizenship Bulletin in EMEA

Welcome to the final edition of Global Citizenship Bulletin for 2008.

This edition demonstrates that HP EMEA has been pretty busy and successful in many ways. Featuring an extra, celebratory news item, we bring details of HP winning two prestigious awards. The first is by our Green Fleet Team, who have been recognised for developing our CO²NTRA Emission programme which educates HP employees about environment-conscious driving and contributes to our company’s longstanding environment protection policy. The second award is won by HP Russia in recognition of our technology development, education and social investment in the country.

We have also achieved a ‘first’ by being the only IT company in EMEA to release carbon emissions data from our first tier suppliers. The release of this data is very important as it emphasises our continued leadership in both supply chain and environmental transparency.

We set ourselves specific goals to achieve either throughout 2008 or well beyond and, as you will read from this review, we have long list of success stories that demonstrate just how seriously we take Global Citizenship.

In short, it looks at how individuals, companies, markets and governments will change their behaviour as a result of our changing climate.

Our interview this month features Chris Priest, Head of HP Sustainable IT Ecosystem Lab, who talks about how information technology plays a crucial role in energy efficiency and sustainability and how HP Labs is setting some ambitious goals that will provide targeted solutions to combat climate change.
