HP Israel teamed up with the non-governmental organisation MATAN at the beginning of June to hold a special ‘Doing Well Day’. The aim of the day was to serve local communities by offering help and assistance in a variety of ways. More than 300 employees came together to take part in different, charitable activities and the day was pronounced a resounding success.
The activities focused on three specific areas: needy people, children in danger and the environment. A total of 18 activities were organised and the numbers of employees taking part in each varied considerably, from 10 to 40. Levels of enthusiasm were so high that, as soon as details of the ‘Doing Well Day’ were published, employees jumped at the chance to register and help.
Varied activities
Dalit Tessel, Corporate Marketing Manager HP Israel said: “Our ‘Doing Well Day’ has really proved to be a great way of getting employees together to help the community. The activities we arranged varied from cleaning the shoreline by the sea and opening a new road to preparing and distributing hundreds of meals to people’s homes.
‘One group prepared more than 1000 sandwiches for children in 25 schools throughout Tel Aviv whilst another helped children learn a special mathematics programme in school. We also organised a guided tour of Jerusalem for girls attending ‘Ruth’s House’ (a centre for girls unable to live at home) and for some employees to take a group of children bowling.”
Experienced support
‘MATAN specialises in promoting a caring, civil society by advising individuals, corporations and foundations on effective community investment and implementation. They have a vast amount of experience in helping organisations find ways to support their local communities. We briefed them on our requirements and they provided us with the best ideas and solutions.”
The success and popularity of the day was such that HP Israel is already receiving requests for additional, similar days in the future - requests not just from the inside, but also from another company wanting to follow in the same footsteps.
