Welcome to the Autumn / Winter edition of Global Citizenship Bulletin. This edition brings some exciting news. Last month HP won the award for Strategic Communications in the Corporate Communications category of the International Visuals Communication Association (IVCA ) Clarion Awards.

These words were spoken by Jeannette Weisschuh, Director Global Social Innovations Education Initiatives at the second HP GET-IT conference , which was held in Cairo last month. The conference brought together delegates from more than 80 Graduate Entrepreneurship Training through IT (GET-IT) training centres from appoximately 20 countries, to learn how HP’s GET-IT programme can help them to develop and strengthen their own communities and economy.
HP and WWF publish new white paper: ‘From Green IT to Greening with IT’
The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) has just published a new white paper entitled ‘From Green IT to Greening with IT (PDF 1.75MB) ’ which was supported by HP. The paper looks at how opportunities can be created out of the global financial crisis to ensure accelerated CO2 reductions with low carbon IT solutions. It also brings to a conclusion a major joint initiative between HP and WWF EMEA called ‘ICT Innovation as a Driver of Climate Change Solutions’
HP announces winner of HP JA Global Business Challenge Award
HP and Junior Achievement Worldwide (JA) have announced the winners of the HP Global Business Challenge , which is a worldwide competition designed to increase students’ business knowledge and skills. In a fiercely fought contest, Team Topol-M from Russia beat seven other competing finalists from eight countries to win the coveted prize of US $3,000. Four out of the top five teams came from EMEA.
The project, entitled ‘Piloting Solutions for Reversing Brain-Drain to Brain Gain for Africa’ was extremely successful. So much so that, last month, HP and UNESCO announced the expansion of the initiative to cover an additional 15 higher education institutions in 11 countries in the Middle East and Africa.
