The Graduate Entrepreneurship Training through IT (GET-IT)Non-HP site helps young un- or underemployed people and graduates aged 16 to 25 to acquire the business and IT skills to enter professional life or to start their own businesses.

The programme is now integrated into 70 training organisations with local NGOs that are already active in education and job creation in more than 26 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Thousands of graduates have been trained.

GET-IT training consists of interactive courses that deal with practical IT solutions for daily business challenges. The core element is a curriculum called Technology Tools (T-Tools) that bridges the divide between pure business skills courses and technical skills courses. The modules explore how different IT solutions can address common business challenges in the areas of Management and Operations, Finance, Communications, Marketing and Technology Management. Students are also in a better position to evaluate their skills and to identify their own needs for further training and development.

GET-IT provides IT equipment for these organisations as well as professional guidance courses for their trainers. It will enable them to offer interactive courses specifically designed to improve business IT skills of young unemployed school leavers and graduates.

In 2009, HP will focus on growing GET-IT in Africa, the Middle East and Russia. The plan is to open new GET-IT centres so that, in total, 100 training institutions deliver training programmes to 25,000 students in approximately 30 EMEA countries.

To spread the reach of GET-IT beyond the classroom, HP has created a web portal—www.get-it-city.net—where young entrepreneurs can log on for training, advice, entertainment and networking.
