HP is providing cash and technology grants to WWF to advance climate change science and support innovative conservation projects globally to help identify the most effective methods for protecting the environment from climate change.
In the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, HP Philanthropy is funding a WWF project called “Information and Communication Technology Innovation as a Driver of Climate Change Solutions”.
This program works to identify how 1 billion tons of carbon reductions could be achieved through the use of information and communication technology. HP experts are working with WWF scientists in Europe to discover how technology can help alleviate the negative effects of climate change and reduce carbon dioxide emissions. A report with the findings of this project will be published in spring 2008.

In September 2007, HP launched a project with the Digital Global Solidarity Fund (DSF) and the Swiss Institute for Materials Science and Technology (Empa) to address the growing problem of electronic waste in Africa.
This collaboration aims to both reduce potential health and environmental hazards caused by improper disposal of electronic waste and create jobs in disadvantaged communities.
To tackle this problem HP, DSF and Empa are undertaking analysis and providing support for improved recycling processes over the coming year.
