Easy installation
Installation is quick and user-friendly. On systems with Local Recovery code pre-loaded, you simply select the "start menu" entry for Local Recovery. An HTML page pops up with a product overview, a link to the user guide, and an "install now" button that leads you through the installation process. If you download Local Recovery from the Web, information on the Web page will instruct you on how to download and install the product on your PC.
Simple recovery
With Local Recovery, file restoration is just a mouseclick or keystroke away. To recover a deleted file, simply drag and drop using Windows Explorer. For a full system restoration, press the F11 key during boot up and then select “full restore” from the menu.
Unlimited online support
The support model for Local Recovery is the same as with HP Client Manager Software and other Altiris products. Customers have unlimited access to the following free Altiris online support tools:
- Altiris Knowledge Forum – Lets you find answers to technical issues.
- Altiris Support Forum – Allows you to post a question and open an incident with Altiris support staff. Target response time to incidents is less than 24 hours.
Additional fee-based Altiris support, such as training classes or an assigned support contact, may be purchased through HP.
Upgrade options
If you require additional recovery features, HP offers two additional products from Altiris that enhance the functionality of Local Recovery:
- Altiris Local Recovery Pro – Provides all the capabilities of Local Recovery, plus support for backup and recovery of open and locked files. During a backup snapshot, this feature preserves information contained in open files, such as e-mail messages, presentations, and word processing documents. Customers may upgrade to Local Recovery Pro by purchasing a license through HP.
- Altiris Recovery Solution – Provides complete enterprise-level backup and recovery of PCs from a central administrative console; backs up data to either a protected area on the local hard drive or to a network storage area.
